Katie and James, one of the couples who's wedding I'll be photographing this year, will be featured on an episode of Get Married this season. I was so excited for them when Katie told me they were selected to be on the show, and now it's finally time for their episode to air! For a sneak peek, you can watch their episode preview. The show has lots of tips for planning your wedding, so if you're engaged, definitely check it out!

Wednesday Flashback: Spring 2007 Fashion Shoot

It has been a few weeks since I shared a flashback photo, so I thought it was about time for a new one. This week's photo is from an editorial fashion shoot I did in college for The Gamecock. The theme was Ides of March, and it showcased women's fashion for the Carolina Cup. The shoot was a big project put together by a group of several designers, photographers and models.

I love taking fun photos that really show off your personality, so last year I held a contest asking my blog readers to send in their own crazy, fun photos. Since last year's contest was so much fun, with over 1,300 total votes cast and lots of tight competition for the finalists, I decided to do it again this year!

The contest is simple. Sent me a fun photo of you and your fiancé. I will post my 10 favorite entries on my blog and blog readers will vote on their favorite photo. Photos should be fun and creative and will be judged on how well they show your personalities- not on photographic quality.

How to Enter
Send the following information to contest@trueexpressionphoto.com:
1. Fun photo of you and your fiancé
2. Names of you and your fiancé
3. One interesting or unique thing I should know about you two or about the photo you are submitting
4. Your Wedding Date

Entries must be received by midnight EST on January 30, 2010.

The Winning Couple Will Receive:
1. A fun engagement session photo shoot in multiple locations in the Atlanta area
2. A custom photo guestbook filled with photos from the engagement session
3. Online slideshow

Imaging USA 2010

I spent Saturday-Tuesday in Nashville, TN for Imaging USA. It was my first year attending, as well as my first time in Nashville. The conference was held at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel. That place is huge- I think I spent half the time trying not to get lost!

I had an amazing time and came back really inspired by the presentations given by some awesome photographers. I also got lots new ideas to put in place for my business in 2010. Another highlight was seeing a presentation given by several White House photojournalists about their experiences covering American Presidents.

I've been really busy catching up since I got back, so sorry for the lack of blogging this week. Here's a photo of me and Katrina in outside of the trade show:

Jennifer & Jon: Engaged! | Callaway Gardens

Monday morning, I photographed Jennifer and Jon's engagement session at Callaway Gardens. It was the perfect spot for them because it is the place where Jon proposed to Jennifer back in July. They have been dating since high school, and Jon completely surprised Jennifer by asking her to marry him at the gazebo in the Azela Bowl Gardens.

Jon was leaving for military training at the end of the week and would be gone until their wedding in March, so this was the only week they could take their engagement photos. Even though there weren't as many flowers in bloom as there were when Jon proposed, it worked out perfectly because they had the garden practically to themselves that morning. And there were so many beautiful spots for photos!
